Celebrity / Tiger Woods Tiger to Galpal: My Marriage Is a Sham Plus, marriage 'announcement' likely coming soon By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Dec 7, 2009 8:21 AM CST Copied In this June 11, 2009, file photo, Tiger Woods and his wife, Elin Nordegren watch Game 4 of the NBA basketball finals in Orlando, Fla. (AP Photo/David J. Phillip, File) Tiger Woods' marriage is a sham—at least that’s what Tiger told one of his mistresses, according to her lawyer. Michael O’Quinn tells TMZ that Woods told his client—no word on who it is, but she allegedly got down and dirty with Tiger for two years—that his marriage to Elin Nordegren was “only for publicity.” More on the golfer’s scandal: The terms of that “sham” might soon be changing: A Swedish tipster tells Gawker that Tiger’s mother-in-law is flying to the US, and that some sort of announcement is likely pending. Even with all this negative publicity, Tiger is still a good deal for his sponsors—partially because, come negotiation time, they can probably pay him less, experts tell Advertising Age. But in Gillette’s case, the company should put Woods “in front of the pack and say, 'Now we have a real personality,’” says one. “In fact, 'The best a man can get' just got real.” If Tiger is ever going to come clean, Oprah Winfrey wants it to happen on her show. “Matt Lauer, Barbara Walters, and Larry King’s people have all called” for an interview, a source tells Popeater, “but only lady O has personally reached out.” (More Tiger Woods stories.)
