Two California middle school girls have been arrested after beating up a young teen—twice—and posting the attacks on YouTube. They lured the girl to an athletic field, where the attack was filmed with a cell phone while a crowd of young onlookers watched. The girls were tracked down through the YouTube video and have been charged with felony assault. The video was removed from the site at the request of police.
The victim suffered minor injuries after being struck in the head, punched and kicked. "The basic motive appears to be that the suspects felt the victim was talking about them," a Benicia official told the San Francisco Chronicle. "It may have been very innocent, very generic teenage stuff, but unfortunately these two girls carried it a step further." (More crime stories.)
