Doug Hoffman conceded the New York congressional election to Democrat Bill Owens yet again today. The Conservative Party candidate said he won't challenge the results, despite the urging of supporters. With the absentee ballots counted, "the results re-affirm the fact that Bill Owens won,” Hoffman said. The muted wording is a contrast to previous statements in which he blamed ACORN and labor unions for voter fraud, notes Politico.
“Since, the morning of November 4th, many of my supporters have asked me to challenge the outcome of this race," said Hoffman's statement. "Their concerns centered on the veracity of the new voting machines used, for the first time, in the majority of the 11 counties that make up the Congressional District. Over the past three weeks, we nearly cut Bill Owens' lead in half. Sadly, that is not enough.” (More Doug Hoffman stories.)
