Terror Suspects in Chicago Linked to Mumbai

A pair of Chicago-based men busted last month in a plot to kill the Danish Mohammed cartoonist are now suspected of helping plot the Mumbai attacks last year. Suspect David Headley—who changed his name from Daood Gilani to make border crossings easier, according to the FBI—is believed to have met with Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, and authorities are probing his movements on several visits he made to India, the AP reports.

American investigators believe Headley's alleged cohort gave Lashkar-e-Taiba members advice on how to slip into the US. The inquiry into the men's activities has led to arrests in Pakistan, where a former military officer has been implicated as a co-conspirator. In India, investigators suspect Headley helped scout locations for the Mumbai attacks and are interviewing people who met him, including several Bollywood stars, during his time in India.
