An Australian government official has called for an investigation into a Facebook "pro-rape group" started by students at the University of Sydney. The site, which has been shut down, was launched primarily by students from all-boys St. Paul's College within the university. "The idea that a group of young men who are going to become leaders in our community think it's OK to post information encouraging rape on a website is absolutely abhorrent," said the New South Wales minister for women's affairs.
Members of the group boasted they were "anit-consent," according to reports. The reverend who heads St. Pauls's said he has spoken to several students involved and has condemned any incitement to rape. "We would condemn utterly any matters that derogated from the value of women," he told the Australian Broadcast Corporation. No disciplinary action has yet been taken against any of the students.
