Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the man who killed 12 today at Fort Hood, had been on federal law-enforcement authorities’ radar for months after Internet postings about suicide bombings and the like. AP sources say the feds are still trying to confirm that the Army psychiatrist authored, in particular, a blog post comparing suicide bombers to a soldier who would throw himself on a grenade to spare others.
Meanwhile, the lockdown at the Texas military base has been lifted, with scores of cars still waiting to get enter and exit Fort Hood, the Austin American-Statesman reports via Twitter.
