Virginia voters are getting recorded advice from Sarah Palin on how to vote in tomorrow’s gubernatorial election. The former Alaska governor’s robocall doesn’t mention GOP candidate Bob McDonnell by name—he’s been loath to accept support from the polarizing figure—but the message appears clear, CNN reports. “Vote to share our principles,” the message goes. “Vote your values on Tuesday.”
The McDonnell campaign says it had no advance notice of the calls, which were paid for by the Virginia Faith and Freedom Coalition, a group related to the Christian Coalition. “The eyes of America will be on Virginia,” Palin’s message continues. “So don’t take anything for granted.” The very fact of a Palin robocall is slightly odd: during the presidential campaign, Palin called the practice part of the “old conventional ways of campaigning” that “irritated” voters.
