Liz Cheney’s new nonprofit launched its first online video today, kicking off fundraising for its anti-Obama campaign. Keep America Safe is dedicated to opposing what Cheney describes as Obama’s “radical” foreign policy. “Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, you want the nation to be strong and so many steps this president is taking are making the nation weaker,” the ex-VP’s daughter told Politico.
The group is comprised mostly of former McCain campaign hands, along with Bill Kristol and Debra Burlingame, the sister of a pilot killed on 9/11. Cheney says the group will look mostly forward, but would continue defending Bush-era practices such as torture. “There’s no turning away from that legacy at all,” she says, calling them “policies that kept us safe.” (More Liz Cheney stories.)
