Sir Allen Banged Up After Jailhouse Fight

Allen Stanford is back in his jail cell today after spending the weekend recuperating from injuries suffered in a fight with another inmate last week. The alleged Ponzi schemer was taken to the hospital with a concussion, a broken nose, and two black eyes. “He is in reasonably good spirits, although he was feeling a lot of physical discomfort,” his attorney told Reuters.

The attorney said he didn’t know who else was involved in the brawl but said he had “reason to believe that he was targeted in some way because of who he is.” Stanford has described conditions in the Joe Corley Detention Facility in suburban Houston "intolerable.” It's not clear whether the incident led to a court order today mandating that Stanford be moved to a detention center in downtown Houston, the Chronicle reports.
