Move over, Sarah Palin and Megan McCain—the GOP’s newest rising star is Liz Cheney, “our favorite vice president’s daughter,” as she was touted at a recent conservative gathering. Cheney—an outspoken proponent of “enhanced interrogation” who has said “waterboarding isn’t torture”—is “a red state rock star,” one event organizer tells the New York Times. She’s “one of the fresh faces of our movement,” adds a blogger.
In addition to fielding dozens of speaking requests each month, Cheney co-founded KeepAmericaSafe.com, which goes live next month. She is certainly her father’s daughter—“I think you’d be hard-pressed to find any daylight at all” between their views on national security, says her sister—and whether her famous last name is helping her or hurting her, some are calling for Cheney to run for office. Her response? “We’ll see.” (More Liz Cheney stories.)
