More than a million airline flights on the 20 biggest carriers have been late so far this year— keeping the US airline industry on track for the worst year for delays on record, reports Reuters. The flight most often delayed in the month of July was a Delta route from New York to Orlando, which was late a whopping 96.7% of the time.
Southwest Airlines has the best record, with flights on schedule 75.2% of the time. Consumer complaints about delays and cancellations have doubled, according to the latest statistics. A business travel advocate says things will get much worse as airlines move toward carrying a billion passengers a year. "We'll look back on 2006, 2007 and 2008 as the good old days," he said.
