Conservative critics are blasting President Obama’s plan to give a speech on education in Virginia next week as a ploy to brainwash the nation’s children, the Washington Post reports. The address, which the White House is encouraging educators and students to watch, is part of a push to “spread President Obama's socialist ideology," says the Florida Republican Party chair.
White House rep Tommy Vietor says the speech is “entirely about encouraging kids to work hard and stay in school." Thaddeus McCotter, the top Republican on the House Education and Labor Committee, has urged the White House to release the text of the speech in advance so parents and teachers will have time to decide whether to allow kids to watch. The administration agreed but has not said how early it will post the text.
