Moammar Gadhafi won't be allowed to set foot outside New York City on his upcoming visit to the UN, NBC reports. New Jersey officials disturbed by Gadhafi's plans to stay in a Bedouin tent on the grounds of a Libyan-owned mansion in Englewood were relieved at the news that Gadhafi's visa will block him from venturing into the Garden State.
With 38 New Jersey residents among those killed in the Lockerbie bombing, Gadhafi's recent greeting of the freed bomber as a hero prompted a move by officials to withdraw the state's hospitality. The Libyan ruler's staff is now looking for a hotel in New York that would offer space on a very low floor, ABC adds, because Gadhafi refuses to ride in an elevator; his original plan, to pitch his tent in Central Park, was denied.
