Disney World canceled its “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” yesterday, after one of the performers suffered a head injury and died during practice, the AP reports. He’s the third park employee to meet an untimely demise on the job this summer, but Disney says the deaths are unrelated, and OSHA investigators are treating them as separate cases.
The stuntman injured himself while attempting to dive over another performer, landing in a tuck and roll. “That stunt is a common acrobatic maneuver and has been performed successfully thousands of times,” said a Disney spokesman. Another performer died earlier this month after being injured during an onstage swordfight in “Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial,” and last month, a monorail driver was killed when he collided with another train.
