Ten men were arrested today in the murder of Russian investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya last October, the Guardian reports. A Chechen organized-crime boss led the group responsible for the slaying, Russian authorities say. Those arrested are said to include current and former officials in the interior ministry and the security service.

Politkovskaya was preparing a story on torture in Chechnya when she was shot, prompting concern over Russian freedom of press. The arrested group, which includes both Chechens and non-Chechens, will be charged soon, authorities said. The group may also be connected to the death of US journalist Paul Klebnikov, a Forbes editor shot in 2004. (More Russia stories.)
