K.J. Choi gave Tiger Woods a run for his money at the Barclays today, even though the new dad wasn't entered in the first round of the FedEx Cup. Choi, who's having his best year in golf, made a 5-under 66, giving him a two-shot lead over Rich Beem going into the weekend, and the possibility of upsetting Tiger as the No. 1 seed, the AP reports.
Barclays has not been a shoe-in for Choi; in 10 previous rounds at this tournament, he had never shot better than 67 and had broken par only three times. The first of four playoff events for the FedEx Cup was the last round for Vijay Singh, the defending champion, who missed the cut at Westchester for the first time in five years. Woods, who chose to sit out this event, could wind up 6,500 points behind if Choi were to win. (More K.J. Choi stories.)
