Enraged after a night of drinking and a public shoving match, the wife of former boxing champ Arturo Gotti strangled him in his sleep, Brazilian police say. Officials plan to charge Amanda Rodrigues with premeditated murder, despite her claim that an assailant sneaked into their Porto de Galihnas hotel room and murdered her husband, BoxingScene.com reports. The couple was on a second honeymoon.

Witnesses say Gatti pushed Rodrigues to the ground in a public argument Friday, injuring her chin and elbow. She cabbed it back to their room with their 1-year-old, and later stabbed Gatti after he had drunkenly passed out, police say. To ensure he was dead, she allegedly strangled him with her purse strap. Police plan to present a crime scene analysis in about 2 weeks.
