Meghan McCain wants you to forgive Mark Sanford. “I don’t know if it’s the fact that I am younger,” she writes for the Daily Beast, “but it’s of very little concern to me who elected officials sleep with.” Assuming he didn’t do anything illegal, Sanford's infidelity should be between him and his wife. “I know from personal experience the pressure of perfection that is put on politicians and their families.”
What does bother McCain is the hypocrisy, the clips of Sanford attacking Bill Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair. “Above all, the Sanford scandal just makes me sad for my party,” she writes. The GOP can’t seem to find a direction, because all its would-be leaders have fallen short. “I suggest that the party concentrate less on what goes on in the bedroom, and more on what is going on in policy.” (More Meghan McCain stories.)
