Jug wine has a bad reputation, with many considering it cheap and low-quality—but it doesn’t have to be that way. Bring along a jug o’ wine to your Fourth of July picnic, and it’ll be gone before you know it. To help you accomplish that, the Wall Street Journal set out to find the best jug wines under $15:
- Concha y Toro “Frontera” Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (Chile): This fruity, crowd-pleasing wine is a steal at $9, and would be perfect for the cup-holder on your floating pool chair.
- Folonari Soave 2007 (Italy): This $12 wine is fairly neutral, but the fresh flavors and hint of peach give it a summery feel.
- Citra Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2007 (Italy): Unlike many jug reds, this $10 vintage isn’t too heavy—it’s uncomplicated, but doesn’t lack depth, so enjoy it with a burger or steak.
