A Brooklyn man is suing Match.com over “humiliation and disappointment” suffered by users who seek dates with non-subscribers, the New York Post reports. Most people listed on the site, he says, “are canceled subscribers or never subscribed at all.” And those who e-mail them “feel rejected when their e-mails get no reply,” Sean McGinn claims.
McGinn has been joined by some 15 others in the lawsuit, which seeks more than $5 million and calls for the site to “cease and desist its deceptive practices.” “We’re not saying that Match doesn’t provide a valuable service, but they don’t have to misrepresent what they’re offering you,” says McGinn’s lawyer. But McGinn himself has been lucky, she says: Thanks to Match.com, he’s “met someone he’s happy with.” (More internet stories.)
