“Cougar-aged” women across the continent tuned into American Idol for the first time this season, Joan Raymond writes for Newsweek, after acquiring an obsession with its oh-so-sexy and oh-so-gay eventual runner-up, Adam Lambert. “We became Glamberts,” Raymond writes. “When we got together, we no longer talked about good books. We talked about all things Lambert.” But weirdly, she thinks the “lust” is totally normal.
Research shows that women like square-jawed types when they want a fling, but seek more feminine characteristics in a long-term mate: “Lambert has a little bit of both, as anyone who saw his version of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love can attest.” And mentally, the Lambert-love is actually healthy. “I think more women would be happier if they channeled their inner 14-year-old girls once in a while,” says one sex therapist.
