American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert finally came out to Rolling Stone, Us reports. “I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I'm gay,” says Lambert in the June issue, out tomorrow. “I'm proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It's just another part of me.” Lambert says he didn’t confirm sexuality rumors during the show because he didn’t want it to overshadow his singing.
“I'm trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader,” he says. “I'm an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. It shouldn't matter.” Lambert also signed a record deal with RCA, one day after Idol winner Kris Allen signed his. In a statement released yesterday, Lambert said his record is “going to be ridiculous! Get ready!” (More American Idol stories.)
