The Giants paid a heavy price for their 13-12 preseason victory over the Ravens yesterday as injuries sidelined four key players. The defense lost safety Will Demps to a dislocated elbow and cornerback Sam Madison to a pulled hamstring. Wideout Steve Smith left with a concussion and Michael Jennings was felled by a ruptured Achilles' tendon.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning was unscathed though unremarkable, completing 10 passes and the game's only touchdown. Heavy penalties stymied both offenses, and the game became a kickers' duel. Though Baltimore was 4-for-4, New York's Josh Hudson hammered two clutch field goals to seal the win. (More NFL stories.)
