Billionaire New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg added to a growing store of off-the-cuff comments yesterday when he defended the Obamas’ theater outing to his Big Apple by saying the president “lives on a budget,” the Times reports. Obama, who makes $400,000 a year, “does not get paid that much,” Bloomberg continued, before clarifying his comments. “The president is worth a lot more than we pay him.”
The Obama comments follow other Bloomy gems like “we love the rich,” calling a reporter “a disgrace” for questioning his unprecedented run for a third term, and telling tots to suck it up and deal with burning hot playground mats. “If it’s hot, don’t sit on it,” Hizzoner told those who complained. “He does not try out phrases,” a former aide said. Chimed in the mayor: “I am 67 years old. I am who I am.” (More Michael Bloomberg stories.)
