US Attorney General Eric Holder boosted security for abortion providers yesterday as the FBI investigated a vandalism incident at the clinic operated by slain doctor George Tiller, the Wichita Eagle reports. Tiller reported a threat last month, days after the Women’s Health Care Services clinic sustained thousands of dollars in damage, including cut security camera wires and a hole in the roof that resulted in extensive rain damage.

Meanwhile, two Kansas City-area homes were searched in the case; the homes were near where suspect Scott Roeder lives. In a statement, his brother said “we know Scott as a kind and loving son, brother, and father who suffered from mental illness at various times in his life. However, none of us ever saw Scott as a person capable of or willing to take another person’s life.”
