Coleman-Franken Fight Heads to Minn.'s Top Court

Norm Coleman and Al Franken take their protracted election battle to Minnesota's Supreme Court tomorrow, reports the Hill, in what could be its final stage. Lawyers on both sides have spent some 6 weeks readying their arguments—including Coleman, himself a lawyer. Franken, meanwhile, holding to a slim ballot advantage, has instead played the role of incoming senator.

The arguments will center on whether, as Coleman argues, certain ballots were unfairly included and excluded by an election panel. Franken is perceived by many as the likely winner, but if Coleman doesn’t like the court’s ruling, he can appeal. Coleman is set to appear at tomorrow’s proceedings; Franken’s not expected to be there. (More Al Franken stories.)
