Game, Aykroyd Bring Ghostbusters Back From Dead

Dan Aykroyd has been trying to get the Ghostbusters to cross streams again for 15 years, and now it’s finally happening—in video-game form. Unlike most movie tie-in games, Ghostbusters isn’t an afterthought—Atari’s giving it blockbuster treatment, complete with voices from Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Aykroyd chatted with the New York Times to talk about his love of the franchise he created.

He tells of his great-grandfather who, his mother says, appeared as a ghost to welcome Aykroyd when he was born. So began the lifelong fascination with the paranormal that would spawn Ghostbusters. He says he loves the new game, but don’t believe the marketing that he wrote it. “I rewrote it doing little tiny structural things,” he said. “But they really had it.” (More Ghostbusters stories.)
