The battle over Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court is beginning to heat up within the Republican Party, the Washington Post. GOP senators have been largely restrained in their response to the nomination, acknowledging that an overly aggressive position would be political suicide among Latino voters. Conservatives, meanwhile, have vowed to fight, but are split on how to go about it.

"The Republicans have got to take a stand on this one,” said Pat Robertson. "If they don’t, they can kiss their chances of ever getting back into power away." Robertson is among those pushing for a filibuster to block Sotomayor's nomination. Others, including the Judicial Confirmation Network coalition of conservative groups, favor building a case against Sotomayor through her previous rulings. (More Sonia Sotomayor stories.)
