Stephen Morgan, the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting of a Wesleyan University student, was arraigned on a single count of murder today and held on $15 million bail, the Hartford Courant reports. Morgan—who turned himself in last night to police in Middletown, Conn.—was brought into court barefoot and shackled for an arraignment that took only a few minutes.

As Morgan left the courtroom, his father, James Morgan, shouted, “Steve!” The accused killer looked at him briefly as he was led away. James Morgan said he’s spoken to Stephen once since his arrest in the death of student Johanna Justin-Jinich, but, when asked how Stephen was doing, he just shook his head.
