Somali Pirates Vow Revenge

Somali pirates have sworn to avenge their colleagues killed in the rescue of Capt. Richard Phillips yesterday. A pirate commander told AFP that the men had been killed after agreeing to hand over Phillips without ransom, and vowed that American citizens traveling at sea in Somali waters—and further afield—would be hunted down and shown no mercy.

"In the future, America will be the one mourning and crying," another pirate, part of a gang holding a Greek ship, told the AP. Residents of Harardhere, a notorious pirate haven on the Somali coast, said they feared the pirates would take out their revenge on the foreign hostages still being held, sparking reprisals against Somali villages.
