The 22-year-old driver who killed a promising major league pitcher of the same age was drunk at the time, police say. The California man has been charged with felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, the Los Angeles Times reports. He had a prior DUI conviction and a suspended license. His minivan ran a red light and broadsided another vehicle, killing Angels rookie Nick Adenhart and two others.

Adenhart's agent, Scott Boras, broke down during a news conference today. "Nick's parents, Jim and Janet, wanted me to convey to the entire Angel organization the privilege and ...," he said before pausing. "He's a great kid."
