President Obama has arrived in Europe, with a hefty economic and political agenda for his first journey across the Atlantic since taking office two months ago. The first stop for the president and first lady was London, with the focus on the G20 meeting of the world's major economic powers and a NATO summit marking the 60 years since the alliance was founded to blunt Soviet aggression in Europe.
Obama is on an 8-day, five-country trip. He will meet with European leaders who split with the US over the war in Iraq and the treatment of suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay under President Bush. The first couple is also meeting with Queen Elizabeth II.
