Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros is taking his recovery from surgery for brain cancer as seriously as he used to work on his game, the Times of London reports. “The way I look at it,” says the 51-year-old five-time major-championship winner, “this is the biggest battle of my life, this is the sixth major.”
Every morning, Ballesteros says, he gets on his “working clothes because this is a job for me. In fact, getting well is my job.” Exercise isn’t the only concession he’s made to his health. “There is no fat and everything is boiled,” he says of his diet. “I do not drink the glass of wine that everyone would like.” Family and fans are helping him through. “They have made me feel that I am much loved, much loved.” (More Spain stories.)
