Macho-looking men are perceived as poor parenting material and more likely to cheat on their mates, according to recent study on sex and masculinity. "When people look at masculine faces they see dominance, which is a good thing in evolution but less good in a long-term partner," said the lead researcher.
Study participants, both male and female, were shown pictures of men whose features had been digitally altered to look more traditionally masculine or feminine and asked to predict personality traits. Men given finer, more feminine features scored highest on parenting abilities and faithfulness. The healthiest looking men, such as those with better complexions, also scored high in positive traits.
