Democrats are going on the attack in a new campaign labeling Republicans as “the party of ‘no,’” Politico reports. Officials and ads will argue that Republicans are playing a knee-jerk political game in opposing Democratic measures, like President Obama’s budget proposal, without offering alternatives. The Dems’ campaign follows the party’s now-“exhausted” targeting of Rush Limbaugh as the head of the GOP, says an insider.
The new strategy comes on the heels of Dems’ concerns that Obama let Republicans run roughshod over the stimulus bill and will face a tough battle for his new budget. The campaign will make use of the grassroots network from Obama’s presidential run. Republicans call the plan “silly” and “fictitious.” “We will continue to roll out our alternative solutions when we disagree with their plans,” notes an aide to John Boehner.
