Despite the 5-year gap since Phish last jammed in their trademark style, last night’s reunion concert in Virginia was well worth the wait, Kevin O’Donnell writes in Rolling Stone. “It was like hanging out with friends you haven’t seen in years,” writes O’Donnell. “Things are awkward at first, but after a few minutes, it’s just like old times.”
During their 4-hour omnibus set, the foursome trekked through crowd-pleasers like “Harry Hood,” “You Enjoy Myself,” and “David Bowie” before 13,000 Phishheads. The mood shifted from eerie to disco, and fans were anxious to continue partying outside after the show—until police arrived. “But who could argue?” O’Donnell figures. “Nothing topped the excellent, four-hour bash Phish had just delivered inside.”
