Some of the worst flooding in living memory has hit Northern India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, where three weeks of heavy rains have caused rivers to rise as much as 30 feet.  Over 12 million acres of farmland is underwater, and almost 20 million people have been displaced.

About 125 people have already died in India and 64 in Bangladesh, but the toll is expected to rise considerably. Over a thousand people have died in South Asia since the beginning of this year's monsoon season in June. "We've lost our crops, there's nowhere to put the children down, not even a place to cook," says an Indian mother of seven. (More India stories.)
