George W Bush made a surprise visit to the hardware store that published a job offer for him in a Dallas paper, joking that he was "looking for a job." The owner provided him with a jacket and nametag ("W"), and the former president spent an hour trying out the position of store greeter, the BBC reports.

"Like you, many of our greeters are retired from the corporate world, so we're sure you'll have no trouble making new friends," Elliott's owner wrote this month. Despite the promise of parking spaces for his security detail, an employee discount, and less stress than he experienced in his previous post, Bush ultimately declined the offer.
