Yanks' Damon Stung by Stanford Scandal

Two New York Yankees—Johnny Damon and Xavier Nady— have had their finances frozen by the SEC in connection with the Stanford fraud scandal, Fox Sports reports. Both players kept their money in Stanford banks, and the SEC says they should have access to it in a few days. But “I can't pay bills right now," said Damon, who had to tell a personal trainer to hold tight. “Hopefully all this stuff gets resolved.”

Both players are managed by Scott Boras, whose company also takes care of their finances. “Our personal-management auditors have looked into the financial elements of it,” Boras said. “None of our clients is in any financial jeopardy.” Damon said he was told that his money was insured, in less-than assuring terms. “The first thing they kept saying was, ‘You should be OK.’ I was like, ‘Not should be OK.’" (More Robert Allen Stanford stories.)
