Peggy Noonan has discovered a new disease. She calls it “Goldmansachs Head,” and when you have it, “the party’s never over.” People with GSH fly private jets to bailout hearings, give bonuses as the company tanks. A GSH sufferer “has everything but a watch. He doesn’t know what time it is,” she writes in the Wall Street Journal. The pork-laden, business-as-usual stimulus bill the House just passed? A glaring symptom of GSH.

Democrats doesn’t seem to realize that “the old pork-barrel, group-greasing ways are over, done, embarrassing.” The president got a big win, but a less-indulgent, bipartisan bill would have done so much more. The opportunity was there to create a serious measure that Republican and Democrat alike could own. Instead, “the old battle lines are hardening. Back to the Crips versus the Bloods. Not very inspiring.” (More Peggy Noonan stories.)
