Tony Stewart took the Allstate 400 in his home state of Indiana yesterday, two weeks after he snapped a winless streak at the USG Sheetrock 400. The Home Depot driver battled for the lead all afternoon, finally grabbing the checkered flag by a 2.98-second margin over Juan Pablo Montoya.

Nextel Cup leader Jeff Gordon finished two back, improving his overall lead to 371 points over Denny Hamlin, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. prolonged his woes with an engine blowout on lap 136. Though behind in the points race, Stewart relished a hometown win. "This one's for every one of those fans," said No. 20, who's struggled for consistency since his 2005 Nextel championship.
