Live-Streaming Websites Smash Records With Obama

Websites streaming video of the inauguration reported record activity today, while a partnership between Facebook and CNN enabled thousands of people a minute to comment on the proceedings, Crain's reports. By late afternoon, CNN reported 21.3 million live video streams, while MSNBC had 9 million live streams and 5 million on-demand streams.

Virtually every major news outlet offered live feeds, and while some viewers had to cool their heels in "waiting rooms," most performed fairly well, the AP reports. Amid all the hubbub, the White House’s official website quietly changed over at noon sharp, TechCrunch reports. WhiteHouse.gov now bears all the hallmarks of an Obama endeavor, with a blog and the promise to post non-emergency legislation for citizens to review.
