Warning that the nation faces “trillion-dollar deficits for years to come” even if the economy begins to recover soon, Barack Obama said today he will create a “chief performance officer” position to ensure "efficiency, transparency, and accountability" in the budget process, and he named Nancy Killefer to the job. Killefer, a senior director at management consulting company McKinsey & Company, is a former Clinton administration assistant treasury secretary.
