Alaska Drug Case Delayed for Palin Campaign: Trooper

The Alaska drug arrest of Bristol Palin's future mother-in-law was deliberately delayed until after the November election to spare Sarah Palin embarrassment, an investigator involved in the case claims. Representatives of the state troopers' union—which has clashed with Gov. Palin over other issues—say a number of investigators have verified the charge, the Anchorage Daily News reports.

Top officials deny the accusation. Sherry Johnston—mother of Bristol's baby daddy, Levi—was arrested after the election because that's when investigators nabbed her attempting to sell Oxycontin to undercover agents, officials say. No one in the governor's office knew about the case until a search warrant was served, the same day Johnston was arrested, says the public safety commissioner.
