Oh, Mickey. Though Mr. Rourke is back from the dead and getting Oscar buzz for his turn in The Wrestler, he still can't quite shake his "primitive" instincts, writes Marina Hyde in the Guardian. She takes great joy in his recent phone text miscue, in which he trashes the acting of "homophobic" Sean Penn in Milk, a potential competitor for Oscar glory.
"Look seans a friend of mine,” Rourke’s leaked text begins, and Hyde loves the caveat: Some of my best friends are Sean Penns. The text calls Penn's acting "average" and says he's "one of the most homophobic people I kno [sic]." Rourke’s publicist says the actor is "completely unaware" of the text. (Note the non-denial.) Adds Hyde: "Mickey is also completely unaware that he starred in a 2001 cockroach horror movie called They Crawl. But Lost in Showbiz has seen it, and can assure you it's very, very real."
