He’s about to lead the free world, but Barack Obama’s a little fuzzy on science,
says a group that put the president-elect—along with John McCain, Tom Cruise, Oprah, and many others—on its celebrity list of shame. Obama’s offense? Suggesting that rising autism rates could be connected to vaccines despite a lack of evidence.

John McCain also touted “strong evidence” supporting the vaccine theory, but experts say higher rates are due to increased awareness, the Independent reports. Sense About Science also scolds Sarah Palin for dismissing fruit fly research, Tom Cruise for declaring psychiatry a “crime against humanity,” and Moore for advocating the use of “highly trained medical leeches.” (More Barack Obama stories.)
