Minn. Board Can't Keep Up With New Ballot Challenges

The Minnesota state Canvassing Board began evaluating challenged ballots in the Senate recount yesterday, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. These votes, where one of the campaigns disputed voter intent, are the last major obstacle in the count. But the campaigns say that having seen the standards, they may revive some withdrawn challenges.

There are about 1,500 outstanding disputed ballots, 441 of them challenged by Franken’s campaign. The board evaluated about 160 challenged ballots—only from the pile challenged by Franken, so it's impossible to tell whether either candidate made any real gains. By the end of the day, Coleman had added 200 challenges to the stack.
