Cholera Caused By 'Genocidal' Brits: Mugabe

The cholera outbreak that’s killed some 792 Zimbabweans is actually a “genocidal onslaught on the people of Zimbabwe by the British,” at least in the mind of Robert Mugabe's information minister. He called the disease a “serious biological chemical weapon,” unleashed by England in “a calculated, racist, terrorist attack on Zimbabwe,” the BBC reports.

Mugabe himself has accused the West of plotting to use the outbreak as a pretext to overthrow him. The US ambassador, meanwhile, has blamed Mugabe’s failed economic policies and the ongoing political crisis for the outbreak. Mugabe said Thursday that the outbreak was contained, but the World Health Organization disagrees, estimating that the death toll could reach 60,000 if something isn’t done soon.
