The face—and, even more memorably, the voice—of the 1990s sitcom The Nanny proposes herself. OK, so she's never run for public office, but she was recently named a diplomatic envoy for the US, traveling to developing nations to speak about women's health issues.
The cancer survivor and activist says she'd already been considering a run for office. “I was thinking I’d take the next four years to lay some groundwork, but I’m throwing my hat in the ring.” Her strongest claim to being the best woman for the job? “I’m an authentic and honest person,” she says. “And I think Capitol Hill needs more of that.” (More Fran Drescher stories.)
