Chicago Cubs brass expects the team to be sold by spring training, the Tribune reports. The chairman of the team, which is in the midst of a century-long title drought, says it is reviewing bids and could have a deal in place by February. Crane Kenney also shot down rumors that Sam Zell's Tribune Company would hold onto to a big part of the team. “Any interest would be a small interest,” he said.

“There’s a lot of planning we want to do that has some long-term implications,” Kenney said. “Having an owner at the seat at the table would help.” The team has been on the block since 2007, but Kenney said Zell was in no rush to sell to anyone but the right choice. For his part, Kenney would like to stay on. “It would be exciting to be part of that,” he said. (More Sam Zell stories.)
